Algeriets præsident genvalgt

An Algerian woman dressed in traditional outfit casts her vote in a polling station in Bab el-Oued in the Algerian capital April 8, 2004. Algeria goes to the polls to elect a new president today, likely to mark a turning point for an emerging democracy. The country is coming out of a civil war which cost an estimated 150,000 deaths, mostly civilians at the hands of Islamic rebels fighting a holy war.
